Óscar Fernández: “We’ve got to keep believing in what we are doing”
Valencia CF Mestalla head coach, Óscar Fernández assessed the 2-3 home defeat to Atzeneta UE in the first game of the second term of the season in group III-B of Segunda B.
“It’s a tough loss, it hurts, there are no words. Going two weeks without a win for mistakes of our own making it’s tough. We’ve got to keep believing in what we are doing, we’ve got to keep on working, helping the boys, pushing them. We always come close to everything and despite the results, the boys kept on going. We can’t do anything about it other than keep grinding as I always say.

The team do things and try it. But the opposition capitalised and scored with our very first mistake and they score again right after the restart as well. Making mistakes is hurting us and punishing us. We’ve got to keep in the same vein looking to be effective in the final third, going forward like we did in the first half getting on the end of those crosses that we couldn’t finish off, there’s no other way. The dressing room are hurt and distraught. We’ve got to keep going.
William de Camargo and Bahiru.M are players who have come in to contribute. The team have turned up despite having frailties. Today a different team would have rolled over, but we managed to try to turn the game on its head until the last minute, having the last kick of the game in the opposition box but it wasn’t enough. Further players are joining the cause, we’ve got to keep going".
